Welcome to Lovely Confections!

I have lifelong experience and education to the organic and eco-friendly movement, long before it was hip, cool or trendy. My mom ran organic community gardens and the local natural foods co-op when I was a young kid. I have vivid memories of her valiant efforts to convince me that frozen rice milk with carob chips tasted like ice cream. I knew then that one of my life goals would be to make treats that are wholesome and that taste amazing!

The moment that I was laid-off from my corporate gig of software project management, I knew that it was the perfect opportunity to pursue new opportunities. I attended pastry school and interned at Cook's Illustrated magazine. After graduation, I worked on the Food Network show “Sugar Rush,” tested recipes for high altitude for Warren Brown's book “CakeLove: Cakes from Scratch,” and worked as a pastry chef in Denver.

I opened Lovely Confections in February 2008 to bring my personal ideals to my hometown of Denver in the form of cupcakes! My mission is to maximize flavor and minimize carbon footprint. This commitment is measured by sustainable packaging, gallons of organic vanilla (produced by a wind powered facility in Colorado,) humane and organic eggs and dairy products, by the use of whole, fresh, organic carrots, lemons, walnuts, herbs and spices, locally grown and milled organic flour, organic sugar, and at the end of the day we recycle and compost as much as possible.

A nerd and a bookworm at heart, I have studied the art and science of baking before and after her time at Johnson & Wales University. It has information on the science of baking as well as a calculator to help you adjust your recipes.) In addition to our furry friends and our earth, helping people understand food and baking is something I love to do. Baked goods are your (and my) heart on a plate. The sharing of baked goods is the sharing of love and positive energy. The more it happens, the better off we all are which is why I am dedicated to helping people become more confident bakers. Of course, if you don’t have the time, the gift of Lovely Confections embodies the heart and soul of the message you want to give.
